Vampire Rules For CAU4

Hey, when you're setting up your own Vampire Mythology, you should always set the rules up first.

NO SPARKLING! Unless Glamor is used...
Vampires turn others with the usual method: Biting on the neck, draining their blood and then giving the victim some of their own. The victim is then buried, face down, underground for three days before rising at night.
Vampire sires can mentally communicate with their progeny and even control them to an extent. It takes immense willpower to resist this control and it is extremely painful for the progeny. How far away the sire has to be to control the progeny depends on their own strength. The closer they are, the better their control.
Vampires are incredibly powerful. Newborns/Fledglings are on the level of a Olympic Athlete mixed with a Power Lifter on an Adrenaline Rush. Drinking blood will increase their abilities and, naturally, regularly drinking blood will cause their power to gradually increase. The older the vampires are, the more physically powerful they become.
Vampires can heal quickly. Fledglings can heal cuts and gashes in a few minutes. Same with broken bones. Furthermore, when a vampire's bones break and they heal back, the bone becomes a little bit stronger each time. Fledglings can potentially grow back lost limbs, but it takes a lot of blood to do so. The older vampires can flat out regenerate.
The vampires skin is actually pretty hard, like stone, less squishy than that of a human.
A wooden stake can potentially kill the more low leveled vampires, but you have to get it through the stone skin and armored bones directly to the heart. For best results, use a stake carved from Hawthorn Wood and have it blessed first.
Decapitation can kill most types of vampires, but the older of them can regenerate from this.
Holy Objects are of course a problem, regardless of type. What matters is the faith in the object, not the object itself. If you completely believe it will work, it will indeed be painful for the vampire. Holy Water is, naturally, painful as well. The equivalent of getting boiling hot water poured on a human.
Sunlight is extremely painful but not immediately fatal. Sunlight will weaken the vampire, is utterly agonizing and will gradually burn the vampire to ash.
Vampires, naturally, need to drink blood regularly. The longer they go between drinks, the harder it is to resist, to the extent that vampires will be driven to being absolutely feral until they get enough to calm them down again. It IS possible to drink animal blood to stave off the bloodlust, but they will always want human blood. Animal Blood will NEVER be a complete replacement for human blood.
When Vampires die, they turn to dust. It IS possible for the vampire to come back from that if the dust is gathered up and the dust is poured down into enough blood. But this isn't common since the dust usually blows away in the wind or has holy water poured on it. No real coming back from that. The oldest vampires can regenerate straight from dust and even attack with it or turn into mist to come back.
Fire, while not immediately fatal to vampires, isn't all that fun either. Fire Hot. Fire Burns. Fire Bad.
Vampires, like cats, are naturally very stealthy. Even a klutz in life would find themselves moving around with fluidity and grace as a vampire.
Vampires can, naturally, see in the dark and have much better eyesight than a human. They can see the veins in a human. This trait comes at random for Fledglings and has to be trained to be controlled.
Vampires have superhuman levels of hearing. Related to this, Vampires can navigate through echolocation, but it requires practice and training.
In fact, let's just save some time and say that the magic tricks, such as flight via batwings, shapeshifting, turning into mist, hypnosis and general black magic tricks require training and practice to get right.
Vampires are very cold. Their skin is like ice. Mind tricks can make the humans think they are perfectly warm though.
Their fangs being torn out is one of the most painful things you can do to a vampire, regardless of age. They will grow back on their own, but the pain is utterly agonizing. Even the older vampires don't exactly like it.
Vampires going on pubic killing sprees is a big no-no. The bodies must be hidden and removed from sight and witnesses killed or at lest mind tricked into forgetting it. The Ruling Class likes things the way they are thank you very much. Want to feed? Have fun. Want to go out with your homies and go turn some people with them? Have fun. Just be subtle about it and don't attract unnecessary attention.
Vampires can breed and give birth to another of their kind, dubbed a 'Pureblood' but it requires a specific ritual to be taken. Purebloods are, generally speaking, more powerful than The Turned. They physically grow at a similar rate to a normal human before reaching their physical peak at which point they will stop aging.
Vampires are able to breed with humans and certain other species. These result in Halfbreeds, most commonly Dhampires. The Dhampire Halfbloods have similar powers to the vampires without the weaknesses, but they usually aren't as powerful as them, relying more on weapons and training than the usual kind of vampires. The Lycan-Vampire Crossbreeds are incredibly powerful and have more of a resistance to the natural weaknesses of the standard Lycans or Vampires.
